North Carolina Division of Vocational Rehabilitation
N.C. Vocational Rehabilitation provides counseling, training, education, medical, transportation, and other support services to persons with physical or mental disabilities who are residents of North Carolina to help them become independent or job-ready or both.

North Carolina Community Alternatives Program
North Carolina operates four programs to provide home and community care as a cost-effective alternative to institutionalization. These are known as "waiver" programs because standard program requirements are waived to allow the program to operate. The waiver programs provide some services that otherwise are not covered under Medicaid.

The Arc of Northern Virginia
The Arc works to ensure that individuals with disabilities can have a "Life Like Yours" in the Community by building a PLACE for them that includes:

  • Lifelong planning and partnerships between families, the individual and private/public resources
  • The Ability to choose between an array of real lifestyle options
  • A Community Commitment to building "A Life Like Yours!'
  • Easily transferable funds that follow the individual

Assistive Technology Loan Fund Authority's (ATLFA)
The Assistive Technology Loan Fund Authority's (ATLFA) mission is to facilitate favorable credit financing of assistive technology for Virginians with disabilities.
The ATLFA can help eligible applicants obtain low-interest loans for a wide variety of special equipment (i.e. assistive technology). This includes loans for wheelchairs, motorized scooters, Braille equipment, hearing aids, low vision aids, communication systems, environmental control devices, building and home modifications for accessibility or telecommunication devices for the deaf or other assistive technology.

Veterans Administration Mid Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6)
VISN 6 serves veterans throughout North Carolina, Virginia, and portions of West Virginia and South Carolina.  VISN 6 includes eight Medical Centers and ten outpatient clinics in a three-state area, offering services to veterans ranging from primary care to specialized care.

National Multiple Sclerosis Society
The Society and its network of chapters nationwide promote research, educate, advocate on critical issues, and organize a wide range of programs—
including support for the newly diagnosed and those living with MS over time.

United Cerebral Palsy
United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) is the leading source of information on cerebral palsy and is a pivotal advocate for the rights of persons with any disability. As one of the largest health charities in America, the UCP mission is to advance the independence, productivity and full citizenship of people with disabilities through an affiliate network.

Muscular Dystrophy Association
The Muscular Dystrophy Association is a voluntary health agency — a dedicated partnership between scientists and concerned citizens aimed at conquering neuromuscular diseases that affect more than a million Americans.
MDA combats neuromuscular diseases through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive medical and community services, and far-reaching professional and public health education.

United States Augmentative and Alternative Communication
An organization dedicated to supporting the needs of people who rely on AAC devices, as well as the professionals, manufacturers and family members making up our community. Augmentative and Alternative Communication refers to methods of communication that enhance (augment) or replace (alternative) conventional forms of expression.
